Wind Turbine Technician (South Donegal, Ireland)

Cathcart Energy are currently recruiting for a Wind Turbine Technician (Electrical or Mechanical) for our client a global player in the Wind industry.

You will be a point of contact for all issues with the wind turbines including troubleshooting, fault finding and maintenance of large wind turbines such as Gamesa. All turbines will be based onshore.

Must have G80 or G90 experience and live in South Donegal……..

You will be climbing turbines and therefore will be expected to have a good head for heights as well as the fitness to perform this job on a regular basis.

Service Technicians work in teams and are provided use of a company vehicle, tools, appropriate work clothes and PPE.

Skills required to do the job are Fault finding and reporting on electrical equipment. Ability to follow risk assessments and method statements.

Should you be a time served or qualified mechanical or electrical engineer. And living ideally living in Central Scotland.

Wind Farm Operation

  • Understand basic wind turbine layout and operation
  • Understand and use SCADA systems for local and remote operation
  • Responsible for the remote monitoring of wind farms and respond to breakdown calls from the turbines within a pre-determined time limit while on duty, mobilising additional assistance as required
  • In addition, a wind farm technician will cover absences for colleagues on a mutually agreed basis.
  • Carry out relevant tasks determined by clients' control system

Wind Farm Maintenance & Servicing

Typical duties include day-to-day responsibility for servicing on site, mechanical, electrical and hydraulic system maintenance, electrical control system tests, checking the torque on bolts, cleaning and re-greasing moving parts, restocking consumables, providing direct supervision of the service team technician/s and the compilation of service reports and MRS's (Maintenance Record Sheets) and AWPs where applicable under WTSR.

  • Work as part of a servicing team during the periodical servicing of wind turbines
  • Interpret basic electrical, hydraulic and mechanical component drawings
  • Understand basic wind turbine layout and operation
  • Understand the correct use of manuals/procedures
  • Understand the function and servicing of electrical systems
  • Understand the function and servicing of WTG components
  • Be competent in turbine fault troubleshooting.

You will need to be prepared to work at heights and hold a Valid UK Driving Licence.

The salary is from €30,000 - depending on your experience and what different types of machines you have worked on.

You will need to have a driving licence for this role.
